#ArtistHotline: May 17 Artist Professional Development Day

#ArtistHotline: May 17 Artist Professional Development Day

Happening next week on Twitter: the latest installment of #ArtistHotline, our monthly Artist Professional Development Day!

Artists of all disciplines and arts professionals are invited to join NYFA on Twitter for #ArtistHotline on Wednesday, May 17, from 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST. Throughout the day, receive and give arts career advice by following and using the hashtag #ArtistHotline

Do you need tips for creating a project budget? #ArtistHotline is the perfect time to learn best practices from other artists and to get insights from partnering arts organizations, who often offer funding programs of their own. Want to know how to make the most of a studio visit, or do you need pointers on creating an artist statement? Participate in this monthly tweet chat to get advice in real-time on questions like these.

As part of the day, we’re hosting a Guest Chat from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM EST, on Post-Graduation Plans for Artists. We’ll hear from guest tweeters Claire Donato, a writer, artist, and curator, Linda Essig, Director of Arizona State University’s Pave Program in Arts Entrepreneurship, and comics critic, educator, curator, and editor Bill Kartalopoulos.

Here’s how you can participate throughout the day:

Want to participate but not sure how the day’s chat will play out? Try reading our Tips to Take Best Advantage of the Day. Then, chime in on Twitter on May 17!

Inspired by the NYFA Source Hotline, #ArtistHotline is an initiative dedicated to creating an ongoing online conversation around the professional side of artistic practice. #ArtistHotline occurs on the third Wednesday of each month on Twitter. Our goal is to help artists discover the resou rces needed, online and off, to develop sustainable careers.

This initiative is supported by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation.
