Upcoming deadlines for individual artists from NYFA Source

There are a lot of programs showing their love for individual artists with space to create, money to live, and the encouragement of experts. Here’s a roundup of select opportunities from NYFA Source with deadlines coming up soon: 

NYFA Artists’ Fellowship

Deadline: February 26 or 27, 2015 (depending on discipline)

Disciplines (for this cycle): Fiction, Folk/Traditional
Arts, Interdisciplinary Work, Painting, Video/Film

Our flagship grantmaking program provides emerging artists
from New York State and/or Indian Nations located in New York State with $7,000
to spend as they wish! Check out the site for a list of inspiring past winners
and instructions on how to apply. Painters who apply will also be considered
for The
Basil H. Alkazzi Award for Excellence in Painting
, which awards two
painters $20,000 each.

Creative
Capital Awards

Deadline: March 2, 2015

Disciplines (for this cycle): Emerging Fields, Literature
and Performing Arts

Creative Capital’s Artist Award supports big, bold projects
with funds of $10,000 and up, plus extensive professional support over the
course of several years. Take a look at their site for application
instructions, plus a bevy of delightful pictograms explaining the award.

Artist-in-Residence
at the Studio Museum in Harlem

Deadline: April 1, 2015

Disciplines: Any (studio) media

Three emerging artists of African and Latino descent hailing
from anywhere in the world get free studio space for eleven months, plus a $20,000
stipend and $1,000 for materials. And the cherry on top: an exhibition at the
museum as a culmination of the year’s work. Visit the site to apply and see the
artists who’ve worked in the museum’s third-floor studios in previous years. $20 application fee.

Edward
F. Albee Foundation Residency

Deadline: March 1, 2015

Disciplines: Writing and Visual Arts

Every summer, Albee and his team assemble a band of writers
and visual artists for communal seclusion and good, hard work at the rustic William
Flanagan Memorial Creative Persons Center in Montauk, NY. Acceptance is based
on “talent and need.”  Whether or not you
wish to apply, take a gander at their FAQs, which may have some of the most
entertaining application literature ever written.

Jerome
Foundation Travel and Study Grant

Deadline: February 19, 2015

Disciplines (for this cycle): Music, Theater, and Visual Arts

Emerging artists from New York City and Minnesota* are
eligible to apply for this rare breed of funding: the travel grant! The Jerome
Foundation offers individuals up to $5,000 to travel anywhere in the world for
the purpose of “study, exploration, and growth.” Visit their website to learn
more and give their online Eligibility Quiz a whirl.

*This is also open to Minnesota-based executive and program administrators
working for not-for-profit arts organizations in dance, film and video, and
literature.
